What kind of oil can I use?
Our research has proven that FDA food grade -20 pour point mineral oil.
All test to date have known that there is no effect on seed germination when using FDA approved food grade oil.
A portable system can take up to 2 hours to install and a commercial system can take 1 - 2 days to install depending on the environment.
Can the oil be applied to wet grain?
Are there limits on how much oil I can apply?
Will the oil hurt the grain during storage?
Yes, the oil will not burn off when drying, it will help keep screens clear and inhibit rust formation on the screens.
Mineral oil is legally restricted to upper application rates of 1.6 gallons per 1,000 bushels. We recommend that you only use 1.25 gallons per 1,000 bushels.
All studies have shown that oil application has no adverse effects of stored grain. In fact, studies indicated it might help preserve it.

In an amendment to FDA regulation 21 CFR 172-878, the application of white mineral oil as a dust control was allowed. In March of 1987, the use of soybean oil was also approved and entered into the Federal Reserve. This is true for all commercial and feed small grains.
Yes, the treated grain will only slightly reduce the dust loss of the untreated grain.
